Geraldine Green
Jack Cox was an inshore fisherman all his life but in the latter part of that life he became recognised as one of the finest painters of seascapes in the area, so much so that nearly all discerning patrons are proud to have a Cox over their mantelpiece. He not only left a legacy of his own beautiful paintings, but he produced a daughter Geraldine who inherited his skills in good measure and who not only married a fisherman, John Green, but a fisherman who lives and works in Stiffkey. Geraldine’s paintings have most recently had wide circulation as they feature largely in the book launched last November about her village called Stiffkey with Cockthorpe, A Story of Norfolk People, published by a first-rate Norfolk publisher called Poppyland.
