Born in Norwich, David Baxter attended City of Norwich Grammar School where he was taught by well-known artist from Norfolk, Hamilton Wood. Influences include the East Anglian artists Arnesby Brown, Edward Seago, Alfred Munnings, Ken Howard. Another strong influence are the French Impressionists and their use of light and shadow. A painter in oil and pastel, his favourite subjects are beach scenes, rural landscape and seascapes.
